First Aid Course

HLTAID011 - Provide first aid (includes CPR).

  • Provide First Aid qualifications are due for renewal every 3 years.

First aid renewal is crucial, not only to keep your first aid qualifications up to date but your knowledge too. Our first aid training courses in Wagga Wagga & Albury/Wodonga include both theory and practical demonstrations of possible real-life First Aid scenarios and are designed to provide the skills to provide assistance until medical help arrives. First Aid situations require specific steps that must be followed to ensure the casualty is treated with optimum care at all times and to avoid causing any further damage.

Keeping your knowledge fresh and your First Aid and CPR skills sharp can undoubtedly save lives.

With instruction and practical training in line with legal, workplace and community considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies, this first aid course teaches the skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.

The course covers assessing the casualty, providing a safe environment, accessing emergency services and using resources to provide first aid including administration of CPR and AEDs. We also cover use of adrenaline auto-injectors in the event of anaphylaxis, asthma medications, and intervention techniques in the event of choking, envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, bleeding and shock.

You will learn basic anatomy, physiological differences between adults, children and infants relating to CPR, the importance of the chain of survival, how to write and convey incident details, how to review incidents to improve own skills and response times, how to recognise psychological impacts, and how to seek help as required.

Comprehensive and done in a friendly environment. A good balance of practical and theory. As I hadn’t done a First Aid Course in a long time, new changes and procedures were very relevant to me and presented well.
